Liang specializes in three mediums: oil paintings, charcoal drawings, and color pastel drawings. Each medium has its own strengths and is best suited for different subjects. Take a look at the sample artwork in each category to determine which medium would be the best fit for your desired subject.
Which medium is right for your photo?
Whether you're looking for a portrait painter or a sketch artist in Vancouver, Liang works in a photo-realistic style, and accuracy is her strength. That's why the photo matters so much: a clear, good-quality photo sets up the best result, whether it becomes a drawing or a painting. See the photo guidelines for tips on choosing one.
- Old, small or black-and-white photo: a small charcoal sketch is the best fit.
- Vibrant, colourful photo: an oil painting gives the richest result, if your budget allows.
- Colour on a smaller budget or timeline: a color pastel drawing.
- Pets: charcoal suits dark coats; for light or white coats, choose oil or pastel.
Charcoal and pastel portraits are usually finished in about 7 days, while oil paintings take 2 to 4 weeks. Not sure which to choose? Send your photo when you ask for a quote, and Liang will recommend the medium and size that suit it best.
